Reliability Society
Welcome to the first of our technical presentations for Autumn 2024! If you have found our technical content of value, I invite you to join IEEE’s Reliability Society and, if you live in this area, to participate with the Joint Boston/New Hampshire/Providence Chapter. Our chapter’s members come from a wide range of industries- aerospace, medical equipment, automated test equipment, semiconductors, photonics, and more. We are college students, recent graduates, mid-career, senior, and retired engineers, willing to share our knowledge, experience, and advice, and to network with you and each other.
We are pleased to co-sponsor this evening event with SMTA’s Boston chapter & iMAPS NE that will include networking, dinner, and a technical meeting with tours of Nano Dimension in Waltham, MA!
Technical Presentation 1: Advantages of Solder Jetting in Modern SMT Presented by: Eric Wolf – Application, Engineer – Nano Dimension
Adding the capability of solder paste jetting to SMT lines provides major advantages to the standard process. Three main reasons will be highlighted: Flexible iteration for NPI and prototyping, supplementing screen printers to increase accuracy and reduce additional steps, and the ability to handle non-traditional and non-planar boards such as 3D printed boards.
Technical Presentation 2: Additive Manufacturing Presented by: Dr. Ryan Bahr – Electronic Additive Mfg Manager – Nano Dimension
In this presentation, we discuss a variety of applications that have seen success with additively manufactured electronics, ranging from a discussion on rigid flex, interposers/legacy support, and RF applications.
