Speaker: Kathryn “Kat” Cox-Arslan, Director, Transmission Commercial Services, National Grid

There are exciting opportunities ahead for the offshore wind industry in the United States. National Grid played a key role in the interconnecting on of the first offshore wind farm off of the coast of Block Island in a recently completed infrastructure project we call “sea2shore: The Renewable Link.” Kat will highlight National Grid’s role in being part of the “first,” some of the unique challenges in interconnecting the first offshore wind farm, and highlight some of the opportunities ahead in Massachusetts and beyond.

Kat and her team facilitate a diverse array of complex electric interconnection projects central to providing a cleaner, reliable, secure and affordable energy future for customers and communities in New England and New York. The team oversees the interconnection of generation resources to National Grid’s transmission and distribution networks and manages National Grid’s relationships with more than 400 wholesale customers including municipal electric utilities, wholesale generators, and interconnected transmission owners in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

During her eight-year National Grid career Kat has held positions of increasing responsibility in Commercial Services that required expertise in cross-functional strategic initiatives, regulatory policy and compliance, stakeholder engagement and commercial contract negotiation and management.

She holds a BS in Business and International Affairs from the University of New Hampshire and an MBA from Babson College.
