Speaker Bio:

Cherif Chibane is currently with MIT Lincoln laboratory as a research staff. He was one of the early adaptors of FPGA for configurable computing. Prior to MIT-LL, he was part of the BAE Systems team that has introduced FPGA to Software Denied Radios (SDR). He has more than 25 years in the design of advanced configurable computing using FPGA for DSP, digital and embedded designs.

Course Description:

Over the last 30 years, Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) design applications have increased exponentially. They have moved from just digital designs to other areas such as embedded controllers, Digital Signal Processing, communication, and configurable computing. This has made exposure and mastering of FPGA very important to many people in the industry and academia.

This course provides a detailed overview of FPGAs technologies, design tools and applications. It utilizes a mixture of theory and hands on laboratories to provide students what they need to know in VHDL programming, simulation and implementation of multi-disciplinary applications targeting FPGAs. This course provides plenty of hands-on labs to reinforce the key concepts. While the material, covered in this class targets Xilinx devices, it can be easily used for others devices such as ALTERA and other FPGA devices.

Benefits of attending:

People who will benefit from this course are:
Digital and RF engineers
Software and Firmware programmers
System engineers and system architects
Technical and program managers
Professors who want to learn about FPGA and incorporate them into their curriculum
