Interested in applied cybersecurity research? This talk will walk through a case study in using machine learning to detect malicious network activity. Included will be a crash course in DNS tunneling, a discussion of how cybersecurity problems are framed, a presentation of novel data synthesis and analysis techniques, and more.

Richard Preston is a graduating BS/MS student in the electrical and computer engineering program. He works part time at The MITRE Corporation in Bedford as a network security engineer.
