I will begin by examining the definition of “risk”: the “risk” associated with an event is a function of the likelihood and the consequences of that event. After a brief discussion of “consequences”, I will dive into how to assess “likelihood”. There will be a brief discussion of IEEE Standards that are useful in risk assessment. I will work through a simple but meaningful real-world example. To conclude, I will provide links to some resources for further study, and answer questions about risk assessment.
