Critical Infrastructure Dependability Initiative

The IEEE Critical Infrastructure Dependability Initiative (CIDI) was conceived by the Boston Section to help to insure the dependable performance of the complex layers of interacting networks and systems that the continued vitality of modern western society depends on.

Through an open discussion of timely issues, critical gaps and challenges in the existing knowledgebase - we hope to foster the dissemination of knowledge about novel new technologies, techniques and processes development and implementation of appropriate standards.

Following the successful launch in May 2006 at Tufts University – CIDI announces the 2006-2007 program.

Lessons Learned from Katrina: Preparedness and Response

How reliable is the Electric Grid with Gordon Van Wyle, CEO ISO New England

Tracking and Monitoring Cargo Shipments from Europe to New England

60 GHz radio for Emergency Communication

Mapping disasters onto a PDA with Michael D. Gray, CEO Global Relief Technologies

GAIN: a new integrated approach to sensing, storage, computation and visualization

In addition, we will be cosponsoring Lecture Series on System Engineering and organizing a session at the 2007 IEEE Technologies for Homeland Security
